1) 2009: Sergey Tuganov - Death by ViagraSergey Tuganov died after guzzling a bottle of Viagra to keep him going for a 12-hour orgy with two female acquaintances. The women had bet the mechanic $4,300 he wouldn’t be able to follow through with a non-stop half-day sex marathon. But minutes after winning the bet, the 28-year-old died of a heart attack. “We called emergency services but it was too late, there was nothing they could do,” said one of the female participants who identified herself only as Alina. I guess the lovely ladies do not have to part with their cash after all. |
2) 2008: Nordin Montong - Death by white tigersVisitors to the Singapore Zoo watched in horror as Nordin Bin Montong, 32, a Malaysian, was attacked when he jumped into the moat of the white tiger area. It was revealed after the incident that it was no accident, but instead a succesul suicide attempt. He entered the enclosure with brooms and a pail and waved them at the tigers in order to provoke them. Three of the tigers pounced on him, dragging him by the neck to the back of their enclosure. Biswajit Guha, assistant director of zoology at the Singapore Zoo said the noise of the attack caught the attention of nearby keepers and they eventually managed to distract the tigers and rescue Nordin. Zoo vets fought to save the man but he died soon afterwards. |
3) 2005: Lee Seung Seop - Death by StarCraftIn 2005, Seungseob Lee visited an Internet cafe in the city of Taegu, South Korea, and played StarCraft almost continuously for fifty hours. He went into cardiac arrest, and died at a local hospital. A friend reported: "...he was a game addict. We all knew about it. He couldn't stop himself." About six weeks before his death, his girlfriend, also an avid gamer, broke up with him, and he had been fired from his job for repeated tardiness. |
4) 2009: Vladimir Likhonos - Death by explosive chewing gumTwenty five year old Vladimir Likhonos, a Ukrainian chemistry student, was killed chewing explosive bubble gum that tore off half of his face. He intended to dip the gum in a pot of powedery citric acid located on his desk, but instead dipped it into another pot that contained powerdery explosives he was using for studies. After hearing a "popping" sound, his relatives immeadielty burst into his room only to discover that the lower half of his face had been sevrely disfigured, with his jaw entirely blown off. It was reported that even the experienced medical staff who quickly arrived on scene to try and revive him were distraught by the mess. |
5) 2003: Dr. Hitoshi Nikaidoh - Death by elevator doors Dr. Hitoshi Christopher Nikaidoh, a surgeon, was decapitated as he stepped on to an elevator at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas on August 16, 2003. According to a witness inside the elevator, the elevator doors closed as Nikaidoh entered, trapping his head inside the elevator with the remainder of his body still outside. His body was later found at the bottom of the elevator shaft while the upper portion of his head, severed just above the lower jaw, was found in the elevator. A subsequent investigation revealed that improper electrical wiring installed by a maintenance company several days earlier had effectively bypassed all of the elevator's safeguards, and thus enabling it to move under any circumstances. |
6) 2001: Gregory Biggs - Death by apologyGregory Biggs, a homeless man in Fort Worth, Texas, was struck by a car being driven by Chante Jawan Mallard, who had been drinking and taking drugs that night. Biggs' torso became lodged in Mallard's windshield with severe but not immediately fatal injuries. Mallard drove home and left the car in her garage with Biggs still lodged in her car's windshield. She repeatedly visited Biggs and even apologized for hitting him. Biggs died of his injuries several hours later. Chante Mallard was tried and convicted for murder in this case and received a 50-year prison sentence. The film Stuck is loosely based on this unusual death. |
7) 2008: Gerald Mellin - Death by rope, tree & carGerald Mellin, a depressed businessman going through a divorce, decapitated himself by tying one end of a rope to a tree and the other to his neck, jumping into his open top Aston Martin DB7, and then flooring it down the road. He cancelled his life insurance the day before and had previously ran up huge debts because he wanted to leave his wife with nothing. Mr Mellin owned a gym and sun tanning centre, where his wife worked as a beautician. A suicide note was found in his pocket detailing his funeral wishes. His wife announced shortly after his death that she will be selling their farmhouse to pay off the debts.

8) 2008: Isaiah Otieno - Death by helicopterThe son of Kenyan Minister Hon Dalmas Otieno, Isaiah Otieno, was killed when walking along the streets of Cranbrook while listening to an MP3 device. A Bell 206 helicopter came falling out of the sky, hit him directly and then dragged him for 15 metres before coming to a standstill. Friends of Isaiah say he probably didn't hear the helicopter coming due to the music he was listening to. Witnesses ran over to help the lad, but their efforts were in vein as he was already dead. Witnesses also said the helicopter burned so badly during the crash that little remained of the fuselage except for sections of the tail rotor. |
9) 2008: David Phyall - Death by chainsaw protestDavid Phyall, 58, cut off his own head with a chainsaw in a carefully thought out suicide because he was being evicted. The block where Mr Phyall had his flat was to be demolished and despite great efforts from his housing association, he had refused 11 offers of alternative accommodation. Police officers burst their way into his flat after receiving calls from his elderly parents expressing concern as to why he was not answering his phone. The officers were greeted in his living room by a room saturated in blood and bits of his body in various locations. Futher inquiry into Mr Phyall revealed he has a long history of mental illness, and has on several other occasions attempted to commit suicide. He was the only remaining tennant of the 1960s flats. Now the council are free to rip it down.

10) 2009: Taylor Mitchell - Death by coyotesOn October 27, 2009 Taylor Mitchell was hiking alone during the afternoon on the Skyline Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia. During her hike, she was attacked by two coyotes. While she was being attacked some other hikers came across her and managed to scare the animals away and called 911. When emergency crews arrived, she was taken to a hospital in Cheticamp and then airlifted to Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax in critical condition where she died overnight. The coyotes were introduced on Cape Breton Island in the 1970s by park wildlife officials to control a rabbit population that threatened new tree seedlings. Mitchell was only the second fatal coyote attack on a human ever recorded in North America. The first occurred in the United States in August 1981, when 3 year old Kelly Keen was attacked by a coyote outside her home in Glendale, California, United States. |
